Bashpa Sweda is a classical Ayurvedic sudation therapy in which the body is exposed to medicated steam to induce sweating. It is one of the most commonly practiced forms of Swedana (fomentation therapy) and is often performed after Abhyanga (oil massage) to enhance therapeutic benefits. The therapy helps in relieving stiffness, heaviness, and pain while promoting detoxification and relaxation.
Bashpa means Steam or vapor and Sweda means Sudation or fomentation.

Procedure
.The patient is first given a gentle oil massage if indicated.
.Herbal decoctions are prepared and heated to generate medicated steam.
.The patient is made to sit or lie comfortably in a steam chamber, keeping the head outside or protected from excessive heat.
.The medicated steam is directed towards the body, maintaining a comfortable temperature.
.The procedure is continued for about 10–20 minutes or until proper signs of sweating are observed.
.After the therapy, the patient is wiped dry and advised to take adequate rest.
