When Dr. Aryadevi envisioned her hospital, she was certain about one thing—it should not feel like a typical hospital. She did not want long corridors lined with identical rooms, where patients are isolated behind closed doors while the system runs efficiently for the staff. Healing, she believed, should never feel like confinement.

Her dream was to create a place that felt like home.

In traditional Ayurveda, the physician would often travel to the patient’s house, bringing comfort, familiarity, and personal connection. True healing, Dr. Aryadevi felt, begins in an environment where the mind is at ease—just like one’s own home. If that feeling could be recreated within a hospital setting, it would become an ideal space for recovery.

This vision shaped the design of Sukrutham. The architecture draws inspiration from a traditional Tharavadu—a heritage Kerala home with a central courtyard. At the heart of this courtyard stands the presence of divinity, symbolized by Lord Dhanvantari, blessing the healing space. Instead of being confined to isolated rooms, patients find open common areas where they can meet, talk, and support one another. They are not “inmates”; they are part of a living, breathing community.

Even the rooms reflect this philosophy—they are not given numbers, but named after sacred places, as a reminder that healthcare here is a divine service rather than just a routine job. A shared dining space brings everyone together—patients, doctors, and staff—sharing meals and conversations. These simple traditions create warmth, dissolve boundaries, and foster natural bonds between caregivers and those receiving care.

Sukrutham Ayurveda Chikitsalayam in Calicut is an NABH-accredited Ayurveda center offering 10 bed inpatient and outpatient care administered and supervised by a team under Dr.Aryadevi. Our well-equipped pharmacy provides a wide range of authentic Ayurvedic medicines. Inpatients are offered personalized diet plans, and yoga guidance is provided at the completion of therapy to support continued wellness. Yoga is an integrated part of the traetment and we have in-house Yoga experts.Apart from therapeutic treatments, we also offer wellness programs, postpartum care, and a variety of specialized packages.
